Hi all!
Has it been a busy week!
First of all, I had the field school last week at the repat. Now, I originally put my name down for single 3 hour blocks for each day, but it turned out that you could just rock up, so I ended up there nearly all day every day with many photo's to show the progress (I'll put them up eventually). Lost of manual labour went on and much fun was had in mindless destruction of innocent turf and dirt.
Most would find the first few days pretty boring, we just dug deep trenches (really deep, the top was over my head and for a while my lecturer wouldn't let me in the trench... But he relented after a few days of me not backing off, hehe). But on Thursday, we hit paydirt. Actuality concrete. A concrete path sloping down into some gravel... Not really exciting in itself, but when you think that we found it 2 meters down... That is exciting... We'd found the path to the entrance.
Unfortunately we had to finish on Friday, and back fill some of it, but it was a brilliant, exciting (and dirty) week for a budding archaeologist.
even better was the rest of the weekend!

First of all we all trooped to the Goodwood pub on Friday after we backfilled and many pints were had by all. Although our numbers slowly diminished, by 10:30 there were a few of us left, if slightly tipsey. Many of them rocked on, and I would have been one of them, but I had a 21st the next night so I left by that stage (keep in mind we arrived at the pub at 5pm) so that I could get a decent nights sleep and look reasonable for the next night.
Clares do was fantastic. First of all it was formal, so I got to be all dolled up. I love getting dressed up, but there is no real call for it these days, so I jumped at the chance here. Chris and Carl also looked quite dashing in their suits. I have no photos, so you'll have to trust me. Due to some extenuating circumstances, I felt very uneasy when I first arrived and made a steady bee line for the bar for a nice glass of liquid courage (otherwise known as Champaign and raspberry, which became quite popular by the end of the night). It served me well... A little too well in fact as I was very sloshed by the time I got home at 1pm. That is why you shouldn't put champas on a bar tab ladies and gents.. But the night was great. Saw many of clares friends whom I know too, and got to see Jason (her fella) all suited up. He also looked quite dashing. I even got to swap yarns about an ex, who happened to hit on one of clares friends (unfortunately, this friends was old enough to be his mother, so it was quite amusing, and a good job that he couldn't make it, as he was invited too and would have made my state much worse by the end of the night).

The night ended by me passing out fo an hour but Carl looking after me wonderfully. He even hung my coat up, and took my (extremely tricky) shoes off.

After a recovery day Sunday (I needed it) and a relaxing day today... Tomorrow is the NASC!!! I'll keep you posted on all that happens there (at least, I'll try). Till next time!!

Oh, PS. Tim, I've enabled the comment function for you. Enjoy!

Hello all out there in internet land, How are we?
I'm doing not so bad considering... Maybe a little seedy, but that's because I spent much of last night getting pleasantly temulant at the Tav, or the flinders uni tavern for those not initiated.
Now I used to be a regular at the tav, because all my friends and my boyfriend-at-the-time basically lived there. But due to uni commitments and other assorted (usually archaeologically associated) craziness, I haven't really been down there for a good night out all semester. But when I found out that the beat smugglers and snap-to-zero were playing on the 16th (ie, last night), I just had to go. This conviction was further steeled when I got a message from Donna saying she was celebrating her divorce becoming finalised and official name change that night too... Wild horses could now not drag me away.
Got there at a reasonable time and all the old gang were there. Donna looked fantastic! I just wish I could of gotten a photo of her... She was having a great night, and she was never without someone to buy her a drink. Go her, the crazy party animal.
Some very bad cider (think goon through a soda stream - Thanks Adrian, plus a shitload of sugar), and a few CC and cokes later, I was feeling quite sociable and rearin' to party! Snap to zero were as excellent as always, and beat smugglers provided enough funk for all the trippers to have a lot of fun (also fun for those of us with a few drinks under the belt). Finally got home around 2 where I presently crashed out.
Now I am at uni, trying to finish the assignment that I didn't do yesterday, that is due today. Ah, the life of a uni student. Just remember all... I may be of an age where I'm responsible, but I'm still a student=).

Hi all, sorry haven't been updating much, but my life has been so hectic lately! And I'm loving every second of it.

First things first, Weekends have been fun, loads of drunken nights were had by various people, except the last 2, but this, I shall get to later.

My uni work is full on. I'm having to research like crazy and put in a lot of hours on campus, which is an unusual thing for me, but it's great. I'm here 4 days a week, and it is finally giving me structure, and drive in my life. Something sorely lacking after some resent events...
The sites going well, and the field school is next week. Flinders students shall be at the Repat hospital Monday the 20th of sept, till Friday 24th sept. Come along and check out archaeology as it happens. (Although I don't know what P.R the repat people are doing, so don't let on that I told you). =)
I'll be there every day at various times.
The NASC conference is after that... And I still have no idea what is going on with that, so can't give you any more details about that one sorry.

Now to my two last weekends!!
I didn't really go out on either of them (I was at the cranker (crown and anchor) till 11 last sat... But that doesn't count, I'd been in the city since 2). Instead, I spent my time with a really nice gentleman.
Let me start from the beginning:
I went to the Cranker with jenn intending to have a huge night and go to as many pubs/clubs as possible, starting there ^. After a few drinks... And the meeting of this nice guy, we didn't leave and stayed there till the wee hours partaking in much inebriated fun, and talking to all our 'new friends'. (and bumping into Nina... Again!)
Needless to say, I got to know this guy and have been getting to know him since. Very exciting news for me, but for all those out for details... U ain't gettin' any! =D.

so that is all my life in a nutshell now... And I have to go, because someone has booked this computer. Till next time!

Ok... Had time and found photos!!! Only from Broken hill though. When i can be assed, i'll put up the photos i've taken of the site i'm working on... and me in my Arch Soc Tee!!!

these are the best ones of broken hill... The street photo's are Argent street (except the one facing a pile of dirt with a building on top... thats the skimp dump and the building is a restaurant). And all the 'taken from on something' ones are from the top of the skinpdump.

Just a quick update... I need to get to a lecture =)

My life is boring, have hardly seen anyone that i usually do.
Caught up with Clare and Jenn and many a quaffing was had (at least at jimmy rowes). Last saturday was very fun, and all I'll say is that i went out on saturday and didn't get home till sunday night. Was very fun, if a bit uncanny.

The geekdom is going ok, if a bit slowly... we haven't dug anything yet... but just wait till the holidays. Then I'll look like a REAL archaeologist (only without the whip or huge breasts). But i will be wearing my Arch Soc tee-shirt, the newest edition to my tee-shirt collection. Will get photos eventually.
Other Archeaological geek news... NASC is on soon (the National archaeology Student conference for thoise that don't know) and i can't wait, we will be having speakers from all over the world comming for 3 days of solid archaeology (and a bit of beer and pizza) Click HERE if you want more details. Gotta go cause i'm now running late.

have fun all and til next time!!!
